The Charleston Youth Hockey Association (CYHA) is proud to continue its strong partnership with the South Carolina Stingrays, Charleston’s own professional ECHL hockey team. This collaboration brings tremendous value to our youth players, families, and the entire local hockey community.
Throughout the season, Stingrays players regularly visit the Carolina Ice Palace to assist with youth practices, help run skill sessions, and engage with our players on and off the ice. For many of our young athletes, this is an incredible opportunity to learn directly from professional hockey players who serve as role models in both skill and character.
“Having the Stingrays involved in our youth programs is a huge asset,” said Ryan Blair, Hockey Director for the Charleston Youth Hockey Association. “Our players get to see firsthand what it takes to play at a high level — the work ethic, the focus, and the love of the game. It’s inspiring for them.”
Beyond on-ice instruction, this partnership emphasizes the shared mission of growing the game of hockey in Charleston. From community events to youth clinics, the Stingrays and CYHA work hand-in-hand to make hockey more accessible and exciting for kids of all ages and skill levels.
The benefits go far beyond the ice. When young players see professional athletes investing time in their development, it strengthens their connection to the sport and motivates them to set higher goals. It also fosters a sense of pride and community — knowing that the same players they watch compete at the North Charleston Coliseum are cheering them on as they learn and grow.
CYHA is grateful for the continued support and engagement of the South Carolina Stingrays organization.
Together, we’re building the future of hockey in the Lowcountry — one practice, one event, and one young player at a time.
